This does not submit CPT30 or recommend stopping contributions. Give a copy to each employer and send the original to CRA. Self-employed cases use Schedule 8 / RC381.

Employee elections become effective next month

An employee receiving a CPP or QPP retirement pension may elect to stop CPP contributions from age 65 to under 70 when the applicable conditions are met. For employment outside Quebec, the CPT30 effective date is the first day of the month following the date the employer receives a completed copy, not the date you first decide to stop.

An employer receiving a valid copy on October 7, 2026 therefore changes deductions from November 1, 2026. Give a copy to each employer and send the original to CRA. Employers receiving copies in different months may have different payroll effective dates; run the calendar separately for each confirmed receipt date.

Revocation requires a prior-year election

You cannot revoke an election in the same calendar year it was made. A 2026 election cannot be revoked during 2026. A supported revocation of an earlier-year election takes effect from the first day of the month after the employer receives the completed CPT30. The calendar rejects a same-year or future election year.

Neither an election nor a revocation is valid merely because the calendar displays a date. Confirm the prior election record, age, pension receipt and employment situation. This tool does not submit the form, instruct your payroll department or determine whether paying contributions would be financially better for you.

Age 70 has an automatic payroll endpoint

CPP deductions continue through the month of the seventieth birthday and stop from the first day of the following month. Someone turning 70 on October 15, 2026 has October as the last ordinary contribution month and November 1 as the stop date. That automatic endpoint is distinct from an optional age-65-to-69 election.

Choose the automatic-age-70 action to check that endpoint. The receipt-date field is then not what determines the stop date. The calendar does not compute post-retirement benefits, pension contribution amounts, wage exemptions or corrections for previously over-deducted payroll.

Keep self-employment and Quebec outside this worksheet

Self-employed-only cases use Schedule 8 or the applicable RC381 process rather than the employee CPT30-only route. Mixed employee and self-employed income can also require extra steps. Quebec employment and residency can bring QPP or interprovincial rules into the calculation. These cases are not covered by the employee-only confirmation.

Use your complete employment and pension records to confirm the route before relying on the date. This is a paperwork calendar for an already-supported situation, not an eligibility recommendation or a filing service. No personal identifier, pension account number or employer information needs to be entered.
